The Mediterranean

If we imagine where we think today's super-yachts might regularly drop anchor, most of us would probably name ports in Southern France.

The area has long been the playground of the rich and famous, being a draw for discerning travellers since the end of the 18th century.

In formulating their French Riviera itineraries, Ritz-Carlton have been careful to select a mix of familiar iconic destinations, as well as some that are perhaps less well known. Old favourites such as Monte Carlo, Cannes and Antibes make an appearance, as well as lesser known jewels such as Cassis, and further along the coast, the picturesque fishing town of Sete.

The French Riviera and the luxurious Ritz-Carlton yachts appear synonymous with each other, so much so that the styling of the yachts resemble apartment buildings skirting the Baie des Anges in Villeneuve Loubet!

Villeneuve Loubet

Of course there are other areas of the Mediterranean that suit the yachting lifestyle - islands such as Corsica and Sardinia. During their inaugural Summer season, Ritz-Carlton visit the Corsican medieval town of Bonifacio, the historic citadel town of Calvi and stylish Porto-Vecchio, with its stunning beaches and "St. Tropez" atmosphere.

Porto-Vecchio, Sardinia

Sardinia is represented by the yachting haven of Porto Rotondo, one of the most luxurious resorts in the Mediterranean and a haunt for celebrities from the world of sport, cinema and fashion.

Other notable destinations featured on these exciting itineraries are the sun-drenched Greek Islands of Santorini and Mykonos, the sophisticated Italian resort of Portofino and a handful of Adriatic coastal resorts whose popularity increases yearly, namely Hvar in Croatia, Koper in Slovenia and Kotor in Montenegro.

It is worth noting that virtually all port visits include a full day in port up to midnight, while others feature an overnight stay. Also, there are a number of onshore excursions which have been carefully chosen to enable Ritz-Carlton guests to get maximum benefit from their visit.
